Trig point activation rules and guidelines?

I can't seem to find much info on rules etc on the Trig points awards. I plan to be doing some activations very soon. For example, how many contacts do you need to make to qualify as activating a trig? Presumably I can make those qualifying contacts on say 2m, then switch to HF to clock up one activ...
