The Gloucester Amateur Radio and Electronics Society (GARES) will be operating from the cathedral twice in the coming months
GB4GC at Gloucester Cathedral Sept 14

The GARES website reports:

After a very successful meeting between members of the committee and representatives from the cathedral, we can proudly announce that GARES will be operating from the cathedral twice in the coming months. We have been granted permission to operate a special event station with the call sign GB4GC during the Churches and Chapels on the Air (ChOTA) event which will take place on Saturday, September 14.

Also, we have been granted permission to hold a second special event station (G100RSGB) on Tuesday October 15th as part of the celebrations of the centenary of the RSGB.

What makes these events especially privileged is the location of the antenna for both events. A 132’ dipole will be suspended from the tower right over the length of the nave roof and will be fed by ladder line to our gazebo just outside the main entrance to the cathedral. A prime location and a chance to operate from the most historic building in Gloucester.
