OV00 - G4YSS (possible)

G4YSS/ OV00 North Yorkshire using GX0OOO/P (for guidance):

It's anniversary year so I am planning to make an OV attempt on Good Friday 19-04-19. Low tide will be at 11:00 BST (10:00z) with a tidal range of 1.2m to 6.1m. The direct route was destroyed a few years ago. I already checked the 2014/ 2017 cliff access near Staintondale a couple of weeks ago, adding an extra 20 feet to the fixed rope near the bottom of the 270ft descent which meets the beach at a point 1.1 miles south of OV00. I can't imagine any impasse along the boulder-strewn foreshore but as always it will be a slow and tricky process so I'm building slack into the schedule. Hopefully the journey will be possible and safe. Many will know that 1mph passes for good progress on this bit of coastline.

I will taking an FT817ND, a 50W amp, 5Ah Li-Po, a 5m mast & link dipole (continuity checked). No reserves apart from a 2W H/H. I hope the tide will clear the operating position before 09:30 as it takes at least half an hour to erect the antenna over this type of ground and that's when it's been partly pre-assembled. Operation is usually possible at low-tide minus 1hr-15 min to low-tide plus 1hr-15 min, depending on tidal range, winds and operating position, the northern dipole leg being the most critical issue.

There is scant phone coverage at the foot of the cliff path where it meets the beach and I don't expect any at all after rounding the first point. If you hear nothing until some hours afterwards, when I can get back on this reflector, I will have failed to access the area. 'Sorry' in advance! My greatest fear is mucking folks about.

Weather is predicted to be OK but there's time for change yet? (Reserve date is Easter Sunday 21-04-19 which has a low tide of 12:25 (11:25z)).
