THE NORTH WALES RADIO SOCIETY are currently in progress organising a SPECIAL EVENT RADIO STATION, Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings on 6th June 1944. The specially chosen location for this prestigious event is the Great Orme (Y Gogarth in Welsh), Llandudno, in North Wales. This location was chosen for its predominance in WW2 with the Royal Artillery Coast Artillery School on the Great Orme with a Practice Camp on the Little Orme. Additional there was a RAF Radar Station on the summit and in close proximity the Famous Mullberry Harbour Construction site on Conwy Morfa, The Ministry For Food HQ in Colwyn Bay and The Wireless College also in Colwyn Bay.
All of this within sight of Llandudno's Great Orme Country Park.
The Date for this Special Event will be over the weekend of 7/8/9 June 2019, and members of the North Wales Radio Society will be aiming to contact via various Amateur Radio Bands / Frequencies as many contacts as possible within the UK, Europe and even further ? depending on conditions.
