GP4KPT HERM ISLAND

Post by G1PIE »

The Martello Tower Group is activating Herm Island again from 4 to 9 October using the 80 to 10m bands, including WARC bands. The group will be using SSB and some data modes. All QSOs will be uploaded to Logbook of the World and Club Log. QSL direct or via the bureau to G6NHU.

I have been working on a WAB map for the four squares Herm Island in colusion with M1EAK Colin - book number 20104.

Mapping is scarce - if anyone can help with with good WAB mapping feel free to share. Meanwhile colin will be attempting to activate all four squares
shown in the 'rough' map below. Obviously the squares edge tolerance is shaky and he will be operating well away from each boundary edge.

Note in the photo ariel shot taken is taken flying north but looking south - so north is bottom of photo.

Call will be GP0PKT/P

For reasons that I've not yet ascertained, the whole of Herm is valid for WWFF as GUFF-020 :)

Regarding the grid, this seems to be a perennial question

Maybe Lioney MU0GSY could throw some light on things?

Further rummaging finds a Google Earth UTM Grid (WAB uses UTM for the Channel Islands, even though Guernsey has moved to its own grid)

http://www.nearby.org.uk/google/Gridlines_utm.kml.pl‎

This puts the intersection about 150m north and east of yours...
