Due to the legacy received by W.A.B. from a former Committee member, Norman Marshall G1NTW (see the G1NTW Legacy page), we are able to offer limited sponsorship to groups or individuals planning DXpeditions activating 'rare' W.A.B. areas. W.A.B. define a 'DXpedition' as being a mobile/portable trip to an area that is not often activated.

Conditions for Sponsorship

If you are planning a DXpedition and would like our help, here are the conditions we would expect you to meet:

• In general W.A.B. will only support DXpeditions to areas that are considered 'rare' in W.A.B. terms.
• The DXpedition agrees to provide W.A.B. with a W.A.B. focussed expedition report and / or photographs for inclusion in the W.A.B. Newsletter and on the W.A.B. Web Site. We would also hope to work with major expeditions regarding the possibility of a presentation at a future W.A.B. A.G.M or event.
• The DXpedition agrees to use the W.A.B. logo on their QSL card and to use the logo together with a web address/link to http://www.worked-all-britain.co.uk on the expedition web site if one is set up.
• The DXpedition agrees to include mention of W.A.B. sponsorship in pre-trip promotional material.
• The DXpedition must operate in a professional manner that does not bring W.A.B. or amateur radio in general into disrepute.
• The DXpedition must operate the station in accordance with its licence terms and all current and accepted operating practices.
• The DXpedition agrees to QSL direct to all valid requests received with IRCs / SAEs in a timely manner. (Buro only QSL is optional, but this must be clearly stated.)
• The applicant must be a member of W.A.B. (i.e. hold a W.A.B. Book/CD Number).
• All operators of the DXpedition should be aware of and adhere to the requirements/practices for operation on W.A.B. Nets.

Procedure to obtain sponsorship

This is the process W.A.B. will follow when it receives a sponsorship application:

1. A formal application for sponsorship should be sent to the Hon. Secretary (see the Committee page), at least six months before the DXpedition is due to start. This is to ensure the W.A.B. Committee can meet to make a decision. Please provide as much information about your plans as possible. The W.A.B. Committee pledge to maintain confidentiality if requested.
1. W.A.B. would expect that no publicity is undertaken about W.A.B. sponsorship prior to a request being granted.
2. Only in exceptional circumstances will W.A.B. consider providing sponsorship retrospectively.
2. The application will be reviewed by the W.A.B. Committee who will make an 'in principle' decision regarding sponsorship.
1. W.A.B. reserves the right to involve any third party that it requires to help make the sponsorship decision.
2. W.A.B. reserves the right to ask the applicant for any further information it might require in coming to a decision.
3. The W.A.B. Committee will send an e-mail or letter to the applicant to inform them of the decision and, if positive, the amount/type of sponsorship offered.
1. W.A.B. reserves the right to withdraw the offer sponsorship if conditions outlined above are not met.
2. W.A.B. has limited funds available for sponsorship in any given financial year. It is therefore possible that, even though a DXpedition meets our requirements, we may not be able to provide sponsorship if we have already exceeded our funding budget for that year.
3. W.A.B. reserves the right to decide the form that the sponsorship may take i.e. cash, purchase or provision of equipment or provision of QSL cards.
4. If W.A.B. agrees to provide sponsorship, the applicant will acknowledge the receipt of support and agree to W.A.B.'s conditions as provided above. If financial assistance is offered this will normally be in the form of a cheque made out to the applicant/group.
5. If Sponsorship has been provided prior to the DXpedition taking place, and the DXpedition is subsequently postponed, W.A.B. reserve the right to demand return/repayment of the sponsorship. If this is the case, a further application for sponsorship for the rescheduled DXpedition may be made.
6. If Sponsorship has been provided prior to the DXpedition taking place, and the DXpedition is subsequently cancelled, W.A.B. require the sponsorship to be returned/repayed.
7. If the DXpedition is postponed after W.A.B. has agreed to provide sponsorship, but before it is provided, the agreement decision will be re-evaluated by W.A.B. If the agreement is cancelled by W.A.B., any further requests must be re-applied for.
8. If the DXpedition is cancelled after W.A.B. has agreed to provide sponsorship, but before it is provided, the agreement decision is nullified, and any further requests must be re-applied for.
9. The W.A.B. Committee's decision is final. If an application is refused, no further correspondence will be entered into.

NOTE: Worked All Briain will bear no responsibility for the safety or well being of any person connected with, or equipment used during, the DXpedition, or whilst travelling to/from the DXpedition.
