Norman Marshall G1NTW, a former committee member of W.A.B. bequethed the sum of £150,000 to W.A.B.
The committee in place at the time the bequest was
received invested the money in a Multi Manager Distribution Fund with the Portfolio Service of F & C Fund Management Ltd., and decided that only the
dividend should be used for any donations made as per the constitution, and for the day-to-day running of W.A.B., thus leaving the initial investment intact.
This required an amendment to the
consitution which was passed at the 2007 A.G.M.
The four trustees of the fund in which the Norman Marshall legacy is invested must be serving members of the committee.
The first 6 donations were finalised at a committee meeting in September 2007, and are detailed as follows:
- £1000 to the Radio Communications Foundation (GB4FUN)
- £1000 to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution
- £1000 to Pump Aid (Provides easily maintainable pumps providing clean water in developing countries)
- £1000 to Cancer Research
- £500 to the R.A.I.B.C.
- £500 to the St Dunstan's Amateur Radio Society

The R.A.I.B.C. will be using our donation to purchase an automated CD duplicating and printing machine to assist with
their monthly recording and distributing of RadCom, Practical Wireless, Radio User, their club magazine Radial as well as training CDs and DVDs.

A further 7 donations have been decided on for 2008/2009, and are detailed as follows:
- £1000 to the Macmillan Cancer Support
- £1000 to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution
- £1000 to Pump Aid
- £1000 to Leukaemia Research
- £1000 to the Radio Communications Foundation (GB4FUN)
- £500 to the R.A.I.B.C.
- £500 to the St Dunstan's Amateur Radio Society
