As we lost a few months of mobile and portable activity due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, it has been decided that we will extend the end date of the Cycle 25 Award to 30th April 2022 to pick up the equivalent months lost.
In simple terms, if you didn’t work a monthly requirement in 2021, you can work it in the same month of 2022. Likewise, if you didn’t work a yearly requirement in 2021, you can work it in 2022. You cannot work the same requirement again. Simply enter the 2022 contact under the equivalent 2021 month. No amendments are needed to the tracker.
The award will run for a period from 1st January 2021 to 30th April 2022.
The Award will mark the beginnings of Solar Cycle 25 and so it is based on the number 25.
The squares element of this award may be worked monthly for credit and as suggested by members, we have introduced credit for working individual members, again on a monthly basis. Overseas members carry a heavier weighting.
Contacts with Squares xx25, Trig Points therein, Large Squares and with the W.A.B. club calls also form part of the award. The credit for any squares, and members not counted in the monthly round down will be carried forward to the next month.
The initial certificate will be awarded for 25 points with endorsements for each subsequent 25. A new certificate and trophy will be awarded for each multiple of 250 points.
An Excel Tracker spreadsheet has been produced, which can be downloaded from the link below. Full instructions are included in the Tracker, but in essence the tabs have user defined band/mode endorsements and columns for dates. Thus, whilst the logging may at first glance seem a chore, all that is required for each contact is simply entering the callsign in a single cell. All totalling is done automatically for you.
Points - UK HF
- 1 point each 25 squares. The same square may be worked each month for credit
- 1 point each 25 UK/CD* members. The same member may be worked each month for credit
- 1 point each non-UK/CD* member. The same member may be worked each month for credit
- 1 point each Large Square during the year
- 1 point each "25" Square during the year, e.g. H25, HU25, SO25, SK25
- 1 point each Trig Point in a "25" Square during the year
- 1 point each W.A.B. club callsign (Gx4WAB, Gx7WAB, Gx3ABG). The callsigns may be worked each month for credit. Due to licence conditions, only full licence holders may use the club callsigns.
There is a mandatory requirement of at least 50 Squares per stage to the first Trophy.
Points - Others (UK VHF, Outside UK/CD*, Data Modes, Activated)
- 1 point each 5 squares. The same square may be worked each month for credit
- 1 point each 5 UK/CD* members. The same member may be worked each month for credit
- 2 points each non UK/CD* member. The same member may be worked each month for credit
- 5 points each Large Square during the year
- 5 points each "25" Square during the year, e.g. H25, HU25, SO25, SK25
- 5 points each Trig Point in a "25" Square during the year
- 5 points each W.A.B. club callsign (Gx4WAB, Gx7WAB, Gx3ABG). The callsigns may be worked each month for credit
There is a mandatory requirement of at least 10 Squares per stage to the first Trophy.
For the activated category, members worked and club callsigns worked or activated will count towards the award.
*= Crown Dependencies (Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man).
Trophies will be presented at the W.A.B. A.G.M. and claims for such must reach the Awards Manager by the end of February preceding the A.G.M.
