BookFinder Program Page Last Updated: 07 Nov 2018
NEW VERSION 1.07
This is a small program to find the W.A.B. books held by any
callsign.
It was written by Roger G0HZK.
Download the Bookfinder Program files here, then 'unzip' them
to a new folder on your hard drive and make a shortcut to
'Bookfinder.exe' to run the program from.
This zip files includes:
Bookfinder.exe - the program
BookFinder.txt - this gives
instructions on how to use the program
The data for the program is held in a file called
'Booklist.txt'. Callsigns can be changed and new books added by using a text
editor, or the latest version of this file can be downloaded here:
Download the Booklist.txt Data file here,
(right click and choose 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link To Disk') and save it to the same
directory in which you stored the BookFinder program.
This file is normally updated each weekend.
BookFinder will search for any UK call, regardless of the
region entered in the callsign box. If you enter GW4WAB, it will search for all UK variations:
For a G
call, it will search for all theses prefixes:
G, GC, GD, GE, GH, GI, GJ, GM, GN, GP, GS, GT, GU, GW, GX.
Similarly for an M call or a 2 call, all variations will be
searched, regardless of which variation is entered.
The variation with the books is displayed in the callsign
field.
This process does not take place if a GB call is entered,
i.e. if GB4WAB is entered, only books for this exact callsign are found. This
is also the case for non-UK calls.
If the bookholder is a Silent Key, the status bar indicates this.
Where an amateur has more than one call, e.g. a G8 and an M3
call, you can search for either and get the same result.
